Senior Accountant - Privately Owned

My client a well-known organization in the property development sector, and is searching for a candidate with progressive accounting experience and exposure to property development, real estate or through audit/review engagements in public practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of project accounting including budgets, variance analysis, forecasting, identifying trends, actual cost, and cost/profitability analysis and reporting and preparing financial statements. The role of Senior Accountant will report directly to the Controller.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Coordinate Draw Processing for a Portfolio of Development Projects in accordance with strict deadlines
  • Submission of Formal Draw packages in accordance with required information and formatting.
  • Collection of Relevant Project Invoicing, ensuring full and accurate documentation including: Holdback calculations, statutory declarations, certificates, progress billing figures, and change orders.
  • Ensuring Development Entity billing accuracy for GST filing purposes.
  • Calculation of Development Fees, Loan Interest, and other supporting figures;
  • Effective communication with the Construction Department regarding project issues;
  • Effective communication with Partners, Lenders, and all other relevant external parties;
  • Development Budget analysis and review;
  • Contribute to Process and Procedure improvements;
  • Create efficiencies in Draw process;
  • Financial Reporting and related financial analysis as required;
  • Ensure funding arrives as expected, and manage payment of vendors.

Your strengths include:

  • Completion or enrolment in a Professional Accounting Designation (CA/CMA/CGA/CPA),
  • Strong public practice experience, preferred, attention to detail
  • Strong communication, both oral and written,
  • Strong analytical ability,
  • Well organized and effective follow up processes,
  • Project accounting experience/commercial real estate development experience,
  • Thorough and accurate,
  • High level of professionalism
