Our client, a leading physical security design and consulting firm recognized for its data-driven, technology-forward, and people-first approach, is seeking a Security Systems Engineer – Research & Testing to join its Innovation Lab team. This role plays a critical part in advancing how physical security technologies are evaluated, validated, and ultimately deployed in real-world environments. The position blends hands-on engineering, structured testing, and applied research to influence both client solutions and internal standards.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:

Support and maintain a dedicated testing lab environment, including servers, networks, hardware, and software platforms

Plan, execute, and document testing of standalone and integrated physical security technologies

Develop test plans, analyze results, and produce clear technical findings that inform recommendations and standards

Research emerging security technologies, trends, and vendor solutions to assess performance and applicability

Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external partners to define requirements and testing methodologies

Contribute to the ongoing development of lab processes, tools, and best practices

Help translate technical outcomes into insights that support broader design, consulting, and innovation efforts
What You’ll Need
Experience & Background

5+ years in the physical security industry, with a strong focus on technology, engineering, or systems testing

Prior experience in software, hardware, or systems engineering roles

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Technical Expertise

Working knowledge of servers, network storage, operating systems, and network models

Understanding of electrical systems, components, and circuits

Familiarity with physical security platforms and network-connected devices; experience with enterprise systems is a plus
