Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President of Sales of a non-asset based international logistics organization providing customized end-to-end solutions through a network of 25 locations (5 in the USA; 20 worldwide). Portfolio of services include transportation (i.e. air, ocean, ground), special cargo, reverse logistics, warehousing & distribution, crossdocking & transloading, customs clearance & brokerage, cargo management, and global supply chain information technology & consulting. The Sales Manager primary role is to expand our client’s business in the United States. This individual will be responsible for revenue growth by marketing all products and services to potential and existing clients. Makes initial contact (i.e. phone, email, social media) to identify potential customers in need of ocean freight, air freight, customs brokerage, advanced cargo management, warehousing & distribution and other 3PL services. Builds and grows prospect relationships, including conducting meetings, presentations, quotations, negotiations and closing business in partnership with regional management. Manages a significant book of business within a defined U.S. region, maintaining relations and developing new service opportunities with existing customers. Liaises with management, operations, customs brokerage, marketing and business development personnel in North America.

Background Required:
  • Freight forwarding sales (7 years)
  • Multimodal (i.e. air, ocean, import/export, FTL, LTL, rail)
  • Knowledge of global logistics and transportation industry
  • Time, territory, and contact management
  • Bids, proposals and negotiations
  • Proven track record of success
  • Travel up to 50% (i.e. domestic, international)
  • Computer literate: Microsoft suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Residence: Home Office (North East, Midwest, Gulf Coast)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • CargoWise and advanced cargo management concepts
  • Freight forwarding operations
  • Reverse logistics
  • Value added sales (i.e. customs brokerage, warehousing & distribution, crossdocking & transloading)
  • Advanced education: MBA
