Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers
- Conduct needs assessments to match customers with appropriate boats and accessories
- Manage the full sales cycle: prospecting, consultation, demonstration, closing, and follow-up
- Maintain CRM records, pipeline tracking, and customer communications
- Generate repeat business through ongoing engagement and referrals
On-the-Water Customer Experiences
- Organize and conduct personalized boat demonstrations on Lake George
- Coordinate test drives, delivery days, and onboarding experiences
- Create memorable, high-touch experiences that showcase lifestyle benefits of boat ownership
- Assist customers in understanding operation, safety, and maintenance basics
Boat Shows & Events
- Represent F.R. Smith & Sons at regional and national boat shows
- Set up and manage booth displays and customer engagement activities
- Actively prospect and follow up with show leads
- Participate in marina-hosted events, demo days, and customer appreciation gatherings
Market & Product Knowledge
- Maintain deep knowledge of boat brands, models, specifications, and marine technology
- Stay informed on market trends and competitive offerings
- Understand Lake George boating regulations, customs, and lifestyle expectations
Customer Experience & Service Coordination
- Coordinate with service and operations teams for seamless delivery and support
- Ensure customers receive high levels of service before, during, and after purchase
- Address and resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience
- 2+ years of sales experience (marine, automotive, luxury retail, or related preferred)
- Proven success in relationship-based or consultative sales environments
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to build trust with high-value clientele
- Organized with strong follow-through and attention to detail
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with CRM tools and basic computer systems
Boating Knowledge
