Job Title: Sales Manager
Job Location: Emmaus, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Organization
This role supports a rapidly growing packaging manufacturing operation serving a densely populated, opportunity‑rich region within approximately a 150‑mile radius of Emmaus, Pennsylvania. The facility is a well‑equipped, advanced sheet plant with strong graphics, digital, and specialty converting capabilities. It serves a variety of customer segments, including consumer goods and confectionery brands, and is positioned for major expansion with planned investments in automation, equipment, and potentially new facilities.
The business has an established, loyal customer base and a long‑tenured leadership group, creating strong continuity as well as significant opportunities for new leaders to step in, build, and advance. The organization values reliability, accountability, professionalism, and a work‑hard/play‑hard relationship‑driven culture.
Role Overview
The Sales Manager leads a team of approximately seven sales representatives covering a broad regional territory. This is a role for a builder—someone who can elevate people, process, and revenue simultaneously. The focus includes traditional corrugated solutions as well as higher‑value, customer‑facing packaging, graphics, and digital print offerings.
The ideal candidate combines strong commercial leadership, emotional intelligence, and experience in value‑added packaging or display solutions. Beyond day‑to‑day sales leadership, this person will influence strategic growth, capability expansion, and talent development as the organization scales.
Key Responsibilities – Required
- Lead, coach, and manage a sales team of ~7 representatives across a 150‑mile regional market.
- Drive new business development and existing‑account growth across both corrugated and high‑graphics/digital packaging segments.
- Build and implement territory and account strategies aligned with a value‑add, service‑oriented commercial model.
- Collaborate closely with operations, design, engineering, and graphics/digital teams to ensure customer needs are met and solutions remain profitable.
- Recruit, develop, and mentor sales talent while preserving institutional knowledge as tenured industry experts transition toward retirement.
- Create a high‑accountability, relationship‑driven team culture rooted in honesty, integrity, and follow‑through.
- Apply strong emotional intelligence (EQ) to coach effectively across generations and navigate complex customer and team dynamics.
- Track and report sales performance, pipeline activity, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Serve as a primary commercial representative in customer meetings, industry interactions, and regional market engagements.
Key Responsibilities – Preferred
- Participate in shaping commercial strategy for upcoming equipment, graphics/digital enhancements, and potential new facilities.
- Serve as a visible leader in the regional packaging and display ecosystem, leveraging market familiarity to accelerate penetration.
- Mentor emerging high-potential leaders to help develop a long‑term bench for future management roles.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated success leading B2B sales teams within packaging, displays, printing, or other value‑added manufacturing sectors.
- Experience managing both new‑business development and existing‑customer expansion.
- Proven ability to sell value‑added solutions rather than competing primarily on price.
- Strong understanding of customer‑facing packaging, high‑graphic applications, or digital print technologies.
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to adapt communication, coach effectively, and support a diverse team.
- Demonstrated ability to scale a sales function—process, talent, pipeline, and customer base.
- Strong business acumen including pricing strategy, margin management, and solution profitability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within a packaging or display environment with advanced graphics, digital print, or specialty converting capabilities.
- Familiarity or established relationships within the broader Eastern Pennsylvania and Greater Philadelphia packaging market.
- Experience selling into consumer goods, confectionery, or other brand‑driven markets where packaging aesthetics matter.
- Leadership experience during phases of operational or commercial expansion.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
Leadership & Culture Fit
- Honest, reliable, hardworking, and highly accountable.
- Comfortable in a relationship‑driven culture that emphasizes customer engagement and team camaraderie.
- Strong personal integrity and follow‑through.
- Passion for developing people and transferring knowledge to newer industry professionals.
- Long‑term career mindset with interest in advancing as the organization grows.
- Desire to step into broader responsibilities as performance and expansion create new opportunities.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive base salary aligned to experience and scope.
- Incentive program tied to individual, team, and facility performance.
- Comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and standard corporate perks.
- Specific compensation details will be shared during the recruitment process.
