As part of our client's succession planning strategy they are looking to hire an experienced commercial sales professional with a background in Chemicals (Distribution or Manufacture) to manage and further develop accounts in Europe and the UK whilst identifying opportunities for new business. you will be joining a long-established global manufacturer of high-performance specialty chemical solutions, offering over 200 off the shelf & bespoke formulations across anti-foam agents, surfactants, release agents, silicone emulsions and more. With a strong UK manufacturing base and a global customer network, the team have been solving industrial challenges for over 30 years and are now poised for further International growth.

This role is the first of three key hires, making it a pivotal time to join and genuinely shape the direction of sales strategy across the UK and Europe.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Business Development, the Sales Manager will retain and grow an existing customer base, while proactively identifying and developing new business opportunities across a mix of direct customers and distributors. You’ll work across all major sectors (including water treatment, coatings, adhesives, construction, food & beverage, and manufacturing) and be supported by a technical and operational team that values customer partnerships and tailored solutions.

The role offers plenty of autonomy, hybrid flexibility (1–2 days/week in the office), and a strong development pathway, with support for further learning and long-term progression.

Ideal Background

We're looking for someone with a strong commercial grounding and solid technical understanding – someone who can open doors, build trust, and add value.

You might be:

  • Already in a Sales or Key Account Management role in the specialty chemicals, lubricants, or surfactants sectors

  • Familiar with European sales, ideally including Benelux, and open/proactive to regular travel (up to 50%)

  • Comfortable working through distributors, managing 360 sales processes, and spotting upsell/cross-sell opportunities

  • Confident delivering technical conversations and navigating a long sales cycle

  • Fluent in English – other European languages are a big bonus!

  • Educated in chemistry, chemical engineering, or business (or equivalent real-world experience)

Remuneration Package

  • £50K–£65K basic salary (depending on experience and fit)
