Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP Customs Brokerage for a world class logistics organization that provides air, ocean, customs brokerage, trade solutions and supply chain services throughout the world. With a robust global footprint, our client strives to ensure that customer requirements are met with the highest quality service and seeks to develop mutually rewarding relationships with team members, partners, and suppliers.

The Sales Manager – Customs Brokerage will have responsibility to develop and achieve all sales goals, as well as increase market share and enhance customer satisfaction as set forth in our client company’s annual sales plan. Additionally, this position is responsible for planning all regional sales activities required to achieve territorial goals. This includes hiring and training of sales representatives, preparing budgets, developing strategic sales plans and programs, and coordinating all sales and account management activities with the account executives.

Background Required:
  • Freight forwarding sales experience (4+ years)
  • Proven track record in sales staff development and training
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve sales quotas
  • Ability to plan, develop and implement major customer sales strategies
  • Experience in all aspects of transportation & customs brokerage (air, ocean, surface, intermodal)
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of CRM systems, sales data analysis, forecasting & planning
  • Ability to travel 50%
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Residence: greater Chicago, IL
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Customs brokerage license
  • Advanced Degree – MBA
