Sales Engineer
Job Summary:
The Nextlink Sales Engineer can expect to collaborate with the sales team and/or customers to discuss their current IT infrastructure and their needs. The engineer will then schedule a discovery, where he will make a detailed map of the customers network, sit down with the staff and identify pain points and areas of improvement. Then he will go back and design a solution that will remedy their problems as well as set them up for resilience, growth, upgrades and support in the future. The engineer will ensure this entire process is smooth and comfortable to the customer from the initial engagement all the way through quoting, design, build, implementation and close out. All this with the high-touch customer care and service that Nextlink customers have come to expect. Requires a thorough knowledge of the products/services offered, and well-developed customer service skills. Exercises a large degree of individual discretion and judgement when customer facing.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to customers and prospective customers (graphs, diagrams of a network etc.)
- Analyze and understand customer requirements by running an expert discovery process phase
- Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support, solutions and design.
- Plan and modify product offers to meet customer needs
- Coordinate the delivery of the solution including project management, vendor and supply management through the entire deployment process to deliver the solution on time and under budget
- Help clients solve problems with installed equipment
- Help in researching and developing new products
- Create and maintain detailed documentation on all contracted customers deployments
- Ensure that all solution discrepancies are identified and resolved before customer signs off on the completion of the solution
- Provide technical leadership and guidance in the installation, configuration, and best use of Nextlink products and all related technologies
- Lead customers in consultative solution audits, due diligence efforts, RFPs, and be skilled at resourcing for all inquiries and questions
- Proactively participate in account strategy planning with account executives for the sales pitch and demo (Need voip demos)
- Grow subject matter expertise in Nextlink’s products, features, and services
Train & mentor staff - Meet defined regional, individual, and team-based sales targets
Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of Internal Nextlink systems/network
- Ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, and creativity to changing situations
- Conflict management and negotiation experience
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Adaptable, professional, courteous, motivated and work well on their own or as a member of a team
- Knowledge of how to use wireless engineering tools such as link planner and Google Earth, to their full capabilities.
- Knowledge of the installation process of the wireless equipment for customer and tower as well as fiber.
- Basic networking knowledge in order to effectively communicate with Netops on limitations of the network.
- Working tickets from Billmax on each commercial job on bandwidth requirements, creating an ROI for each in the ticket so that the job is quoted correctly and deployed with the correct equipment.
- In depth Knowledge of standard equipment capabilities used by WISPs, ie. Back Hauls, Access Points, Switches, Routers, Cable, Fiber etc.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience driving cases through process of resolution
- 3+ years’ experience building reliable, highly available and scalable enterprise IT solutions
- Experience driving cases through process of resolution

Physical Demands:
- Stationary position for 8-10 hours a day
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment.
- To perform this job successfully, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. Daily movements include sitting, standing, operating computers and other office equipment and moving about the office. The employee must be able to communicate via email and verbally via telephone.
Working Hours/Days:
- Full-time
- Requiring approximately 40 hours per week
Travel Requirements:
- Travel 25-50% or as necessary onsite at the customer or prospect
