Sales Engineer - Large-Scale Machining

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales initiatives by actively selling machining products and services within the assigned territory.
  • Consistently meet or exceed sales targets across multiple time frames.
  • Engage with clients and potential customers through a balanced combination of in-person visits and virtual meetings.
  • Develop new business relationships and diligently follow up on all leads and sales inquiries.
  • Analyze changes within the territory to seize growth opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Educate customers on how our services can meet their needs, addressing both expressed and unexpressed concerns.
  • Represent the company in trade shows and perform service calls as necessary.
  • Resolve customer issues with professionalism, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize CRM tools to manage the sales pipeline and ensure accurate sales forecasting.
  • Generate leads, make cold calls, and maintain a proactive approach in customer relationship management.
  • Analyze and document the reasons behind lost quotes and adjust strategies accordingly.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or substantial industry-related experience.
  • At least 3–5 years of technical or industrial sales experience, preferably within the machining sector.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM software.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively, including overnight stays and some long-distance travel.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds, climb ladders, and remain on feet for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or certifications relevant to sales and marketing or mechanical engineering.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role within the machining or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong strategic planning and analysis skills in sales techniques.

  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, with a solid understanding of algebra and geometry.
  • Robust problem-solving skills coupled with the capability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
