Position Title: Sales Director

Basic Purpose and Objective

Seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Director to lead sales growth across North America and Mexico. Based in Troy, Michigan, this position is an individual-contributor leadership role with significant responsibility for developing new business, expanding existing customer relationships, and driving revenue and profitability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metal manufacturing and the automotive industry, along with a proven history of selling to automotive OEMs and leading sales initiatives.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute annual sales plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Establish monthly and quarterly sales forecasts and performance objectives.
  • Develop long-term growth strategies and identify opportunities for future expansion.
  • Monitor sales performance, reporting, and key business metrics.
  • Oversee sales activities, promotions, collections, and related initiatives to achieve revenue targets.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, market share, and customer penetration.
  • Identify new markets, customers, sales channels, and business opportunities within the transportation and automotive sectors.
  • Develop relationships with prospective customers and key industry decision-makers.
  • Analyze market conditions, customer needs, competitive activity, and pricing.
  • Develop and implement strategies to expand the company's presence in targeted markets.
  • Communicate sales strategies, objectives, and initiatives to internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare sales proposals, contracts, presentations, forecasts, and management reports.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and other internal departments to develop solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Recruit, train, and develop sales and engineering personnel as the organization grows.
  • Establish sales plans, performance objectives, and incentive programs.
  • Coach and mentor team members to consistently achieve and exceed revenue objectives.
  • Develop effective sales strategies, techniques, and processes.
  • Coordinate customer promotions, trade shows, industry events, and other business-development activities.
  • Create opportunities for career development and advancement within the sales organization.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with existing customers to generate repeat and expanded business.
  • Develop relationships with key decision-makers throughout customer organizations.
  • Address customer concerns and coordinate appropriate solutions.
  • Establish and maintain a strong professional network across the automotive and transportation industries.
  • Represent the company professionally with customers, prospects, and industry contacts.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related discipline preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in metal manufacturing, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in sales, sales management, marketing, engineering, or business leadership roles involving sales to automotive OEMs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of automotive manufacturing and OEM purchasing processes.
  • Drivetrain experience and knowledge is a plus.
  • Proven ability to develop and lead sales initiatives that produce consistent revenue growth.
  • Demonstrated history of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong business-development and relationship-management skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with customers, engineering teams, and senior management.
  • Strong analytical, strategic-planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary throughout North America and Mexico.
