Sales & Use Tax Accountant - Hybrid

Carolina PRG has partnered with a Distribution & Supply Chain Corporate HQ in North Charlotte. This company has seen significant growth over the past 5 years and now has a revenue that exceeds $500M. ***Hybrid schedule of 2-3 days in office per week after the initial training period***

The responsibilities of the Sales & Use Tax Accountant role will include the ability to review and manage multi-state monthly and quarterly sales tax returns, prepare use tax monthly computations and review drinks tax returns computations across all related entities

Job Responsibilities:

• Review and manage multi-state monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returns
• Provide support to the outside preparer of Company's multi-state personal property tax returns
• Review annual business licenses and monitor annual reports for multiple jurisdictions
• Review occupational tax returns
• Assist in preparation of annual budget for property tax and sales tax
• Review customer exemption certificates and communicate with customers when corrections are warranted
• Respond to audit inquiries for sales and use tax as well as property tax audits
• Combine tax and technology knowledge to identify areas of improvement in the tax department to achieve greater efficiencies
• Ability to Research Sales and Use and Other Tax Related Matters
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor or Associate Degree in Accounting
• 2+ years of relevant tax experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Thorough understanding of sales and use tax compliance in multiple jurisdictions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees and customers regarding tax matters
• Experience with tax research tools
• Experience with Vertex or Avalara sales tax software a plus
