Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director, Safety of an Intermodal/Drayage trucking company regarded as one of the finest carriers in the Southwestern US.
The Safety Manager will lead the efforts to improve CSA basic scores for company, obtain and maintain compliance levels; lead ELD training and implementation for company contracts; lead telematics review across all CSA Basics and ensure proactive communication to field Operations; deliver CSA reporting trends to Director, Safety monthly; lead and ensure quarterly and annual inspections are completed on time by partnering with TMs; manage California BIT inspections to ensure passing score – align with local counsel as needed to prepare; CARB Program leader / CA; lead CA Contractor Random Drug Screen process; ensure 5 – Level 1 inspections completed monthly; implement Gate Check program; review Pre-Trip and Post Trips daily for compliance; review daily time records for 150 air-mile exempt contractors.

Background Required:
  • Transportation safety management (10 yrs.)
  • DOT Audit(s) and CA BIT Inspection(s)
  • Independent Contractor driver experience (Fleet size 100+ trucks)
  • Electronic Log Administration & Compliance
  • DOT regulations, including equipment
  • Accident-Incident & injury investigation & prevention
  • Personnel management (2 associates)
  • Multiple facility compliance management
  • Driver recruiting, hiring, training & orientation process
  • Computer literate: advanced Microsoft Office Suite
  • Residence: Pomona, CA (relocation assistance may be provided)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Intermodal / Drayage company experience
  • Personal contacts within industry & DOT
  • Transportation Software and technology (i.e. TenStreet, Qualcomm/Omnitrax, DriverReach)
  • Participant in state and national safety organizations
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (i.e. Safety, Supply Chain, Logistics or Transportation)
