We are searching for a Safety Engineer to join our client's growing team.

Cultivate a culture of safety awareness & housekeeping stewardship
Provide support/resources to operations, maintenance and engineering for the implementation of safety and ergonomic improvements
Understand, implement and communicate federal, state and local OSHA regulations
Maintain the Safety, Health Management System (SHMS)
Develop, organize and deliver safety training
Review, develop and implement safety policies and procedures
Maintain safety (OSHA 300 logs) and environmental records
Monitor contractor safety programs/performance, workers' compensation and industrial health program
Participate in Division and company safety activities, initiatives and audits
Reviewing, developing and authoring safety, equipment and operating policies/procedures and managing plant security

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years' experience in safety compliance and reporting within an industrial setting or a degreed safety professional
  • Experience with OHSAS 14001 & 18001 OHSMS Systems
  • Obtain and/or maintain OSHA 501 trainer certification
  • Experience and working knowledge of OSHA VPP
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of safety programs (lock out, confined spaces, working at heights)
  • Commitment to safety
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Ability to travel overnight
Preferences:
  • BS in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or environmental engineering
  • Safety related experience in heavy industrial environment
