Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the General Manager of a privately held carrier of bulk liquid chemicals specializing in servicing refineries and utilities throughout California and the surrounding states. The company transports a diverse line of chemicals (mostly corrosives) including sulfuric acid, caustic soda and molten sulfur from terminals located in both northern and southern California. They have been in business since November of 1985 and operate with a fleet of 35 tractors and 80 trailers.
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safe movement of our customers' products. This includes maintaining programs to meet both regulatory and customer requirements and ensuring these requirements are met by drivers, maintenance, and operations. They will need to carry out the company’s safety program and maintain training and entrance standards for multiple plans. Regularly perform driver audits and identify gaps between driver performance and regulations in reference to customer requirements. They will monitor driver logs and service failures in order to help coach and train drivers through daily challenges. Attend customer contractor safety forums and develop a strong working relationship with their customers’ existing safety personnel.
