Overview: The Senior Vice President of Operations will provide strategic leadership and operational management for the company's portfolio of senior living communities. This role is responsible for ensuring financial strength, operational excellence, and maintaining the company's reputation for delivering high-quality care and services. The ideal candidate will possess a collaborative and energetic leadership style, guided by the company's vision, mission, and values.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Leadership:

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and mentorship to the Vice Presidents of Operations, fostering a culture of excellence, quality, and innovation.
  • Motivate and lead a high-performance operations team, emphasizing coaching, mentoring, and professional growth.
  • Achieve and surpass occupancy, profitability, cash flow, and business goals and objectives.
  • Cultivate a success-oriented, accountable culture within the operations team.

Communication and Stakeholder Management:

  • Provide timely, accurate, and comprehensive communication on the operational performance of the company's senior living communities to all stakeholders, including leadership and ownership partners.
  • Represent the organization professionally and confidently with residents, families, staff, clients, investors, and business partners.

Strategic Planning and Operational Infrastructure:

  • Collaborate with the operations team and leadership to develop and implement plans for operational infrastructure, systems, processes, and personnel enhancements aligned with industry best practices and growth objectives.

Financial Management and Compliance:

  • Oversee the financial performance of the communities, identifying influencing factors, and leading efforts to enhance financial results.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across all communities.

Resident and Staff Experience:

  • Monitor and drive improvements in resident, family, and staff satisfaction and engagement levels across the communities.

New Community Development and Transitions:

  • Ensure successful launches of new development communities.
  • Review and refine the company's community transition/takeover plan and new development pre-leasing and opening plan.
  • Co-lead the annual budgeting process with the company's controller.

Investor Relations:

  • Lead routine and ad-hoc investor calls to report on operational successes, challenges, and strategies.

Training and Development:

  • Lead the company's existing Executive Director training and orientation program.
  • Design and facilitate Executive Director and other company meetings.

Innovation and Process Improvement:

  • Identify operational challenges and opportunities for innovation, source ideas, structure pilots, measure results, and manage implementation.

New Business and Due Diligence:

  • Contribute to the evaluation and due diligence processes for new development and acquisition opportunities.

Supervisory Responsibility: Direct oversight of six Vice Presidents of Operations and an Operations Specialist.

Travel: Up to 50-60% overnight domestic travel within the United States.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of proven operational experience in the senior living industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial planning and analysis.
  • Skilled in organizational development, personnel management, budgeting, resource development, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to prioritize and collaborate with a dynamic leadership team.
  • Integrity, credibility, timeliness, and commitment to the corporate mission.
  • Resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investments in people and systems.
  • Collaborative leadership style and strategic thinking.
  • Results-driven with strong business acumen and decisive decision-making skills.
  • Expertise in financial management.
  • Exceptional people, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
  • Preference given to candidates located in Atlanta or willing to relocate.
