SVP Logistics
- Direct and lead the team that ensures timely resolution of day-to-day Supply Chain issues.
- Accountable for relationship and performance management of all Supply Chain vendors.
- Facilitate supplier involvement in joint continuous improvement efforts with focus on quality and lead-time.
- Lead Key Business Reviews to ensure alignment with vendors related to performance, continuous improvement goals, and platform strategy.
- Develop and maintain Supplier Scorecards and KPI's to facilitate continuous improvement in the areas of Production, Fulfillment, Quality, Cost of Goods, Inventory Management, and other metrics.
- Lead and develop a best-in-class team through coaching, recognition, best practice sharing, and mentorship.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for current and future initiatives.
- Work closely with executive leadership teams to more efficiently and effectively drive business initiatives.
- Build key cross-functional partnerships, particularly with stores, operations, finance and human resources.
- Partner with key stakeholders to understand short and long-term opportunities to improve the impact and effectiveness of the Supply Chain organization.
- Drive operational excellence across the company for continuous improvement in safety, service, quality, and cost.
- Assess current operations to ensure existing technology is being leveraged and identify any opportunities to enhance innovation and support future needs.
- Partner with Sr. leadership team to develop and lead Transportation business strategy for all product categories (Ties, Poles, Lumber, other materials).
- Leadership for North America truck, rail and water freight, Finished Goods Yards, Carrier Performance Management, Customs Compliance, Trade Programs, Transportation in support of the North America Supply Chain's strategic plans.
- Lead initiatives to improve transportation and logistics services (Internal and external freight movement) in the areas of quality, speed to market, reliability, execution to plan and overall customer service.
- Partner with Sales and Procurement to negotiate international and domestic carrier and service provider contracts.
- Ensures compliance with U. S. and Canadian laws related to import/export transportation activities.
- Represents the company with government agencies regarding transportation compliance policies.
- Develops logistics strategies and optimizes the logistics network and processes for new and existing businesses.
- Collaborates across the NA Supply Chain and with Stella Jones Customers to optimize on-time-performance, inventory levels, and cost.
- Ensure open communication exists throughout the business and that senior executives are kept abreast of issues in the areas of safety, transportation, logistics; distribution, transportation, planning and human resources.
- Ensure that each region and facility operate in compliance with all stated company policy and procedures, and adhere to the company's mission, vision and values statements.
- Ensure consistent practices and processes used across all Regions, such as corporate requirements in the area of asset management, financial reporting, human relations, state and local government regulations.
- Provide for, and give operational input to strategic business planning, consideration of technology, innovation, or process changes in existing and future facilities.
- Look for opportunities to use "best in practice" techniques for transportation operations.
- Oversees transportation budgets; reviews performance to budget; monitors, consolidates analysis, and reports budget variances.
- Develop initiatives with Sr. leadership to improve cost performance and profitability.
- Work with and support Sales to increase existing and future business.
- Oversee purchasing, transporting, warehousing, and shipping of materials and products.
- Ensure that all steps in supply chain meet regulations, quality, and timeliness goals.
- Record data and strategize to meet sales and delivery goals, reduce costs, and forecast market needs.
- Build relationships with stakeholders including vendors, factory staff, clients, carriers, etc.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 10+ years of direct work experience in supply chain management at a senior level in a high-volume retail organization.
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related field or equivalent experience; MBA a plus.
- Must have the leadership skills and executive presence to drive best in class results.
- Should have leadership presence, courage, and intelligence.
- Strategic business partner who understands the impact Supply Chain has on top and bottom line growth.
- Anticipates future business opportunities and develops strategies to address them.
