Job Description

Our client is seeking a senior SAP Transportation Management (TM) consultant to lead the central support hub for its multi-wave S/4HANA rollout. Working remotely, you will act as the senior TM expert behind the deployment: resolving complex issues, guiding field consultants at the sites, and keeping the TM solution stable and consistent as more locations go live. This is a remote role with a 9-month initial term and the ability to extend (likely a multi-year engagement).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior TM functional lead for the hub, owning complex and escalated issues through root-cause analysis and permanent resolution
  • Provide remote expert support to field consultants and site teams during readiness, cutover, go-live, and hypercare
  • Configure and optimize TM processes: order- and delivery-based transportation requirements, freight units, freight orders and bookings, transportation planning and optimization, carrier selection and tendering, and charge calculation and freight settlement
  • Guard the approved design: assess change requests, run fit-gap analysis, and keep site-specific needs within the standard template
  • Drive TM integration with S/4HANA (SD, MM, LE, FI/CO) and with EWM (transportation units, staging, loading, goods issue)
  • Support output management (PPF, BRF+) and external integration (carriers, EDI, telematics, visibility platforms)
  • Write functional specifications and work with development teams on enhancements and fixes
  • Plan and oversee unit, integration, and regression testing for fixes and template changes
  • Mentor hub and field consultants and internal staff; build documentation and knowledge articles that improve each wave

Required Qualifications

  • 7-9 years of hands-on SAP TM functional experience, including lead or solution-owner roles
  • Multiple full-lifecycle implementations, plus production support or hypercare leadership
  • Deep configuration experience in embedded and/or standalone TM on S/4HANA
  • Strong integration knowledge: TM with S/4HANA logistics and order-to-cash, plus experience with qRFC, IDoc, EDI, and APIs
  • Working experience with TM-EWM integration for warehouse-to-transport execution
  • Proven ability to triage and resolve complex issues quickly in a live environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to guide others remotely and explain technical issues in plain terms

  • Freight settlement, carrier collaboration, and dock appointment scheduling
  • Private fleet or multi-mode (LTL, FTL, parcel) transportation planning
  • Experience with multi-site or multi-wave rollouts
  • SAP TM certification
