SAP GOVERNANCE AND BASIS MANAGER
BARCELONA

We are collaborating with a multinational FMCG company who is currently involved in one of the greatest transformation project and, at the same time, they are expanding their busines. Therefore, we are seeking a dynamic and strategic SAP Governance and Basis Manager.

Role Overview

The SAP Governance and Basis Manager is responsible for defining, governing, and enforcing SAP technical governance across the application lifecycle, ensuring robust control over system delivery, technical changes, releases, and testing activities. The role ensures SAP environments are delivered and operated in a controlled, audit-compliant, and high-quality manner, bridging project delivery and steady-state operations while leading a team of specialists across Application Lifecycle Management and Governance, Governance Risk and Compliace (GRC), and Basis.

Scope & Organisation

Global scope across new SAP landscape (excluding legacy ECC systems and Regional SAP systems in America)

Covers SAP Governance, ALM, Technical Change, Release Management, Test Management and Automation, SAP Basis, and GRC.

Technical Change Management

  • Define and implement end-to-end technical change governance model.
  • Establish controls for transport management and ensure segregation of duties.
  • Manage change lifecycle including approvals, testing, release, and deployment.
  • Maintain and prioritize change backlog and ensure documentation.
  • Define escalation paths for risks and conflicts.
  • Ensure no uncontrolled changes are deployed to production.

Release Management

  • Define release strategy and cycles.
  • Own release planning and calendar.
  • Ensure readiness criteria (testing, approvals, risk) before releases.
  • Oversee deployments and cutover activities.
  • Ensure traceability and documentation of releases.

Test Management

  • Define SAP testing strategy (unit, integration, UAT, regression).
  • Align testing cycles with release planning.
  • Oversee test management and automation tools and manage defect resolution.
  • Ensure traceability across requirements, changes, and tests.
  • Define quality gates and ensure audit readiness.

System Delivery & ALM Governance

  • Oversee end-to-end lifecycle from demand to operation.
  • Manage ALM processes including requirements, changes, testing, and documentation.
  • Ensure standardisation of delivery processes globally.
  • Govern ALM tools (Cloud ALM, Signavio and in the future Test Automation tool).

SAP Basis & Operations

  • Oversee SAP system administration and performance.
  • Govern transport, refresh cycles, upgrades, and patching.
  • Ensure system stability and performance monitoring.
  • Coordinate with operations and SAP RISE AMS teams.

SAP GRC & Security

  • Ensure GRC framework implementation (SoD, risk monitoring).
  • Govern user access and role management.
  • Ensure compliance with audit and internal controls.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead and develop a team of SAP specialists.
  • Manage stakeholders across IT, business, and audit.
  • Communicate changes, risks, and releases effectively.

KPIs & Continuous Improvement

  • Define KPIs for change success, release stability, and defects.
  • Monitor and report performance.
  • Drive standardisation and governance maturity.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience in SAP Governance, Basis, GRC, or ALM.
  • Experience in S/4HANA programmes preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud ALM, SAP Solution Manager, Basis, and GRC.
  • Degree in IT or related field.
