Position Summary:
Bull City Talent Group's direct client is seeking a hands-on SAP BTP Developer who can design, build, and deliver high-quality technical solutions to extend S/4HANA in alignment with SAP’s Fit-to-Standard approach. This role requires a technical doer - someone who thrives in execution, digs into details, asks the right questions, and delivers precise, well-architected solutions with minimal oversight.

You’ll partner closely with Techno-Functional Leads and Business Analysts to interpret functional specifications, define technical specifications, and develop scalable, supportable S/4HANA extensions using SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). You’ll also help guide the internal IT team in understanding SAP best practices, ensuring code quality, and discerning when to customize versus extend using BTP.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and translate Functional Specifications into detailed Technical Specifications and deliver corresponding BTP-based solutions and S/4HANA extensions
  • Develop, test, and deploy cloud applications, extensions, and integrations leveraging SAP BTP services (CAP, RAP, Fiori/UI5, APIs, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Techno-Functional Leaders to ensure full understanding of business requirements—achieving DWIM (“Do What I Mean”) level alignment before coding
  • Ensure adherence to SAP Clean Core principles by distinguishing between Green, Yellow, and Red patterns, applying the correct approach for each scenario
  • Educate internal IT personnel on SAP Fit-to-Standard methodologies, guiding them on when to extend versus customize
  • Deliver high-quality code that meets functional and technical standards with an emphasis on performance, maintainability, and clarity
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing extensions, identifying opportunities for simplification or standardization
  • Contribute to technical design reviews, documentation, and knowledge transfer sessions

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of SAP development experience, with at least 2 years in SAP BTP or S/4HANA Cloud extensions
  • Experience with RISE with SAP implementations
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile delivery methods
  • SAP Certification in BTP or S/4HANA Development a plus
  • Hands-on experience with SAP Business Application Studio, CAP/RAP models, SAP UI5/Fiori, and BTP service integrations
  • Proven ability to design side-by-side extensions and custom services while maintaining S/4HANA Clean Core integrity
  • Deep understanding of S/4HANA architecture, CDS views, OData services, and extensibility options
  • Ability to discern when to use in-app extensibility vs. side-by-side extensibility, and educate teams on the “why"
  • Skilled at interpreting functional requirements, asking clarifying questions, and producing clear, actionable technical specifications
  • Strong ability to communicate with functional and business stakeholders to achieve the DWIM level of understanding before development begins
