Compliance Consultant

Risk Management & Compliance

We are seeking an experienced Compliance Consultant to provide hands-on compliance guidance and support to credit union clients. This role is ideal for someone with strong financial institution compliance and operations experience who understands regulations but can also take a practical, consultative approach when working with credit unions.

The right person will be organized, detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple client projects, and able to work independently in a primarily remote environment.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with credit union clients to develop and maintain effective compliance programs, including risk assessments and specialized compliance reviews.
  • Review and develop compliance procedures, policies, forms, and other documentation to ensure alignment with applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Assist credit unions with implementing new laws and regulatory changes, including updating policies and procedures.
  • Research and interpret regulations and provide practical compliance guidance to credit union management.
  • Help identify compliance concerns and recommend solutions that work within the credit union's operations.
  • Develop compliance training materials and conduct training for credit union staff.
  • Assist credit unions during regulatory examinations and external audits, helping ensure compliance issues are appropriately addressed.
  • Assist with state and federal regulatory information requests.
  • Serve as a compliance resource at industry, League, and chapter events as needed.
  • Support internal departments with compliance-related information, guidance, and research.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in credit union operations, compliance, banking, or another financial institution environment.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting financial institutions.
  • Solid understanding of credit union or banking operations.
  • Experience reviewing, revising, or developing policies and procedures.
  • Ability to research regulations, interpret requirements, and explain them clearly to others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects, clients, and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, service-oriented approach.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.

Education & Certification

A bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field is a plus but not required. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education. Compliance certification is preferred.

Travel

This position requires occasional travel to client credit unions, which may include car or air travel and occasional trips lasting up to one week.

The Person We're Looking For

We're looking for more than someone who simply knows the regulations. We need someone who can partner with credit unions, understand their operations, research complex compliance questions, and help them find practical solutions while remaining compliant.

If you're a strong compliance professional who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and helping credit unions succeed, we'd love to hear from you.
