Position: Risk Analyst (Liquidity/Treasury)

Duration: 18 months with potential extension or conversion to PERM

Location: Remote or onsite (up to the candidate – may need to come in occasionally) – Downtown Toronto

SUMMARY OF DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Liquidity Management group within Treasury & Balance Sheet Management department is currently establishing a team to undertake a review of the full suite of liquidity reporting across the bank, spanning Canadian Retail, US Retail, and Wholesale businesses. The group seeks a capable senior analyst to support this initiative under the guidance of a Senior Manager.
  • The successful candidate will have the opportunity to leverage their analytical skills while working with large and diverse data sets, gain an in-depth understanding of liquidity risk and regulatory reporting, learn about all the business segments of the Bank, collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders (Treasury, Risk Management, Technology), and work on a high profile initiative that will provide recommendations around liquidity treatment and controls framework to senior leaders.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Work with Senior Manager to establish a workplan for the project, including key milestones and timing of deliverables.
  • Liaise with other Treasury teams responsible for managing liquidity in the Canadian Retail, US Retail, and Wholesale businesses, as well as Risk Management and Technology to understand the current liquidity reporting systems and reports.
  • Develop in-depth understanding of the full suite of liquidity reporting, including interpretation of liquidity treatments for a variety of product types across all the business segments of the Bank. Summarize findings and propose recommendations to senior management.
  • Perform detailed analysis to document how liquidity reporting is in compliance with regulatory requirements and whether interpretation is aligned across different areas.
  • Perform testing to provide internal assurance around effectiveness of controls.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all findings, recommendations, and action plans.
  • Lead meetings / working groups to gather information, discuss recommendations, design future reporting and controls, and track progress against action plans.
  • Proactively propose process improvements and work with production/technology teams to implement changes.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to VP Enterprise Liquidity Management as required.

Job Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills acquired through experience in the banking / financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of liquidity risk management principles as well as regulatory liquidity metrics.
  • Familiarity with the features and characteristics of banking products as well as financial risks associated with them.
  • Excellent problem solving, organization, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for preparing documentation, reports, and presentations.
  • Ability to comfortably manipulate and work with large data sets using Excel; knowledge of SQL and/or Alteryx would be an asset.
  • Experience in conducting testing or internal assurance on processes would be an asset.
  • Good relationship management skills and ability to lead meetings / working groups.
  • Proactive and highly motivated individual who can work independently and in a team environment.

Typical day: reviewing existing reporting, first step is to talk to reporting team and understand the process. Then there is a fair amount of time spent reading the documentation. Then documenting your findings and presenting to VP.

MUST HAVE:
