Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced Retirement Plan Manager to join our Retirement Services Group. This client-facing role involves managing an assigned book of retirement plan clients, ensuring compliance, and delivering high-quality service. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in retirement plan administration, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a results-driven environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Plan Sponsors as their primary point of contact.
- Coordinate and lead annual plan review meetings; assist with participant presentations when needed.
- Manage and prioritize workload to meet quarterly and annual goals in a team-oriented environment.
- Advise Plan Sponsors on plan design and ensure proper drafting and maintenance of related documents.
- Collect and review annual census and other required plan data from clients.
- Prepare and submit all required government filings, including Form 5500, and collaborate with external auditors for audited plans.
- Perform compliance testing, including ADP/ACP and top-heavy testing, and calculate annual employer contributions.
- Work closely with the Recordkeeping Team to verify data accuracy and resolve any recordkeeping issues.
- Stay up to date on legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring client plans remain compliant.
- Prepare and distribute all required participant notices and plan communications.
- Address client inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and provide support on plan enrollment, investment education, and reporting errors.
- Contribute to fee schedule assessments and ensure timely fee collection from clients.
Experience and Certifications Required:
- BS or BA in a related field of study is preferred, along with specialized training related to employee benefits plan administration.
- 3-5 years of experience in a related position preferred. Experience with Relius Administration and Pension Pro is a plus.
- Must possess at least one certification from a recognized professional organization (i.e. QKA, QKC, QPA, CPC, APA, CEBS, CRSP).
- Thorough knowledge of all laws, regulations, and policies impacting retirement plans and IRA administration; working knowledge of investment terminology for presentation participants.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of retirement plan administration, compliance, and industry regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients and internal teams.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
- Experience with compliance testing, including ADP/ACP and top-heavy testing.
- Proficiency in preparing and filing government forms, including Form 5500.
- Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot client issues and resolve discrepancies.
- Ability to consult with Plan Sponsors on plan design and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with recordkeeping processes and verifying allocations and reports.
- Familiarity with Relius Administration and Pension Pro software (preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
