Title: Resident Care Manager
JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing, manages and supervises nursing staff and oversees the operation of a nursing unit and the daily delivery of care to residents. Is responsible for implementing and tracking the effectiveness of nursing programs, plans or policies designed to enhance the quality of resident care services at the unit level. Keeps Director of Nursing informed of both progress and potential problems. Coordinates unit admissions, discharges, and transfers. Oversees Infection Control processes at unit level.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Hawaii required. CPR and Certification
First Aide required.

One year of professional nursing experience required; experience in geriatrics and current nursing standards of practice preferred; management experience preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical and behavioral needs of geriatric population; Working knowledge and ability to apply standards of professional nursing practice as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long term care; Possess leadership skills and strong skills in personnel training and development; Focus on outcomes and maximizing performance to standards of excellence; Skilled in performance improvement methodologies; Time management and organizational skills. Organized; Time management, critical thinking and analytical skills; Able to build engagement and teamwork among staff and motivate teams to produce quality outcomes; Resident centered and customer focused; Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with individuals at all levels; Able to prioritize multiple and sometimes conflicting assignments. Able to maintain highly sensitive, confidential material; Flexible and adaptable; Self-motivating; Understands and enforces safety, regulatory, and health requirements of the workplace; work hours may exceed 8 hours per day, include weekends, evenings, holidays, subject to call-back during emergencies.
Well-it office; noise level is moderate; spend time sitting at desk and walking through facility, May enter isolation rooms; adhere to precautions.
Requires frequent walking, requires moderate to prolonged standing; considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching is required when caring for residents; lift and carry medical supplies, charts, equipment with
an average lifting of 10-50 pounds; one to two-person positioning, transferring, lifting of residents; pushing residents in wheelchair. Fine motor skills sufficient to provide medications, treatments, start IVs; Sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
