Reliability / PM Coordinator - Electrical
The reliability engineers will be responsible to ensure the plant production equipment reliability/uptime. This individual will monitor equipment behavior, analyze failure & help put in place good practices to reduce downtime.
The reliability engineers will work closely with plant inspectors and oilers that will assist him/her track and achieve reliability goals for each system.
The reliability engineers will assist the implementation of a new CMMS.
The candidate will also assist the Maintenance Department in engineering projects and developing short to mid-term maintenance plans.
The reliability engineers will plan all the planned shutdowns: from the preventative maintenance shutdowns to the summer and winter outages.
This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure department compliance with corporate policies, behavior rules, plant rules, environmental & safety policies,
Equipment Reliability
- Develop and enforce preventive maintenance program to ensure equipment reliability.
- Facilitate monitoring of equipment behavior (noises, vibrations, temperature) with goals of increased equipment uptime.
- Responsible for all Predictive Maintenance in the plant including lubrication routes, filters replacement routes.
- Works with Maintenance & Production teams to analyze repeat failure impact and prioritize action plans.
- Follows up on all Emergency & Break-in to determine if a formal failure analysis or further action is required.
- Collect data to update indicators and report on the performance of the PM program.
- Works with maintenance planners to develop the PM program and plan the PM shutdowns.
- Coordinates all predictive maintenance events/visits in conjunction with planner & inspectors.
- Lead the preparation of the annual winter outage or other major outages, working closely with the maintenance planner and inspectors.
- Works with technical &/or maintenance department to design engineering solutions to remediate or eliminate repeat failures on assets or equipment performance issues.
- Will be the champion in the implementation of the plant CMMS. Will promote & manage as a super user of the maintenance program.
Leadership
- Frequent visibility in the plant is necessary to reinforce safety, environmental, policies & to follow-up inspectors and oilers performance.
- Lead work teams through example & motivation, instruction, coaching, discipline, & otherwise oversee employee work performance when required.
- Provide work leadership &/or direction & schedule work in order to meet organizational & operational goals, objectives, & deadlines
Management
- Assists Planner with site visits, developing job scope, labor estimates, planning packages as well as researching & specifying special parts & materials.
- Managing performance of direct reports & team.
- Conduct & attend meetings, presentations etc. as necessary with department personnel.
- Participates in an on-call program to cover maintenance availability on nights, weekends & holidays - Subject to twenty-four (24) hour/day call-in for mission critical repairs.
Team Work
- Assists Operations/Production in equipment troubleshooting.
- Work with the ERP in coordination with the warehouse/purchase department and equipment suppliers to ensure the availability of the critical parts and other parts required for PM.
- Working closely with the Safety, Environment, Quarry, Electrical, Production & Shipping personnel to ensure that the needs of Production are met.
Other Duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering
- Five to ten years progressive experience in a heavy industrial environment; preferably in the cement industry.
- Self motivator with good work ethics
- "Efficiency" minded, well organized & disciplined
- Ability to work as a team member with strong time management & record keeping skills
- Able to conduct area/job inspections to ensure work completed without defects & is in compliance with specifications & regulatory requirements
- Effectively relates to maintenance employees & to on-the-floor maintenance work.
- Able to delegate & manage planning-related activities.
- Must have availability to work some nights/weekends & off-hour call outs
- Analytical & Proactive in identifying opportunities, creative engineered & solutions.
- Good-level knowledge on the use of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Enjoys working with information & computers.
- Effective good written & oral communication skills to influence all levels of personnel & to create change
- Demonstrates ability to analyze failures & implement effective corrective solutions
- Demonstrates leadership ability to influence safety practices & initiatives
- Able to walk long distances, climb ladders, stairs & stockpiles, crawl under & into enclosed spaces
- Able to walk on all types of surfaces (uneven &/or slippery ground) & ability to access all areas of the plant as required in order to perform duties of the position
- Some exposure to dust, noise, & extreme temperatures.
- Able to see & hear safety indicators & warnings.
- Able work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry, dusty & near hot kiln process.
- Able to drive vehicle to various work locations
