Regulatory Compliance Attorney in Higher Education

Salary: $115,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise colleges and universities on compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Manage and oversee transactional matters, specifically mergers and acquisitions concerning educational institutions.
  • Provide legal guidance on governance issues, accreditation processes, and the formulation of institutional policies.
  • Negotiate contracts, handle employment law issues, and strategize on risk management.
  • Represent educational institutions during regulatory investigations and administrative proceedings.
  • Contribute to leadership discussions and play a pivotal role in developing innovative legal strategies that align with client needs.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active member of the New Jersey Bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of legal practice, ideally with exposure to higher education or regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively both as an independent lawyer and within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience representing colleges, universities, or educational institutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of higher education laws and regulatory frameworks.
