Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Transportation for a large industrial company, providing services for more than a century to both generators and consumers of product. The company has over 40 locations throughout the country and 500 employees. Contractor carriers handle 60% of the business; the private fleet consists of 50 vehicles spread across three regions.
Responsible for managing and leading the day-to-day operations of the region’s business. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM. The position has full P&L responsibilities and duties include (a) the hiring and training of employees, (b) safety and compliance, (c) maintenance of trucks and trailers, (d) identifying new contract carriers, and (e) expanding business opportunities with current customers. A terminal typically has 16 tractors with 16 direct reports.

Background Required:

  • Inbound/outbound transportation (5 years)

  • Recruiting, training, team building, mentoring, and retention

  • Standard Operating Procedures - development and implementation
  • Federal and state industry regulations (e.g. DOT, FMCSA)
