As the Mechanical Engineer V, you will have the opportunity to apply your advanced mechanical engineering skills to a diverse range of complex technical problems. In this role, you will lead and collaborate with a team of professionals from different backgrounds, including work leadership for less experienced employees.

You will be responsible for designing and maintaining commercial refrigeration equipment, such as condensing units, unit coolers, and air-cooled condensers, while also supporting manufacturing production and responding to customer requests. You will have the opportunity to implement and test refrigeration control systems, select and size components such as compressors, valves, air movers, motors, and heat exchangers, as well as design refrigerant piping systems. Your expertise will also be called upon to calculate refrigeration loads using refrigerant properties, create test procedures for units being developed, and qualify equipment for appropriate agency listing.

  • Subject matter expert in HVAC/R systems for design/development and qualification
  • Utilize advanced mechanical engineering methods, theories, and research techniques to solve complex technical problems
  • Coordinate and manage the efforts of engineers, CAD designers, and technical support staff
  • Expert knowledge of design principles, tools, and techniques for producing precise technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with company procedures and standards, and committed to adhering to them
  • Self-motivated and able to drive projects to completion
  • Proficient in navigating SAP business system to mine product information
  • Expertise in product families and review of literature, patents, and current practices relevant to assigned projects
  • Effective management of multiple projects/tasks including schedule and goal management
  • Lead engineering tasks for multi-stage product development projects
  • Document best practices to be shared with peers
  • Interpret safety and performance standards to ensure compliance
  • Select components for electro-mechanical and electronic control systems
  • Identify/create new engineering tools to increase efficiency
  • Create plans and initiate requests for testing of product designs
  • Develop test plans and work closely with lab personnel for performance, reliability, and safety agency related testing
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external customers to understand requirements and translate them into engineering actions.
