A Provincially Certified Red Seal Machinist position is an achieved role upon completing technical training and getting work experience in a Red Seal trade, graduating from an apprenticeship training program recognized by the Industry Training Authority in British Columbia Canada, and passing the inter-provincial standards Red Seal exam for both trades as a Millwright and Machinist. The Millwright Machinist's role is primarily responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to cut or grind metal, plastic or other materials to make or modify parts or products with precise dimensions. Typical duties and responsibilities include inspecting machined parts and tooling in order to maintain quality control standards, working for machinery, equipment, motor vehicle, automotive parts, aircraft and other metal products manufacturing companies and for machine shops.
A Chemical Manufacturing Plant Millwright Machinist would be someone who has excellent mechanical aptitude, has strong attention to detail and able to communicate complicated technical ideas with precision and clarity. A successful Millwright candidate would have the ability to support the preventive and corrective maintenance program for a production plant. They will provide installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of plant equipment (including conveyors, pumps and compressors, power tools, fans and blowers, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and power transmission systems and mobile equipment). This position requires flexibility in meeting multiple job demands and the requirement to assist other trades-persons as and when needed. The ideal candidate will have relevant work experience in the manufacturing and/or fabrication industry, combined with good interpersonal/teamwork, organizational, and communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Permanent Full-Time, 4 days per week (for 10 hours per day) working Day shift with occasional overtime
Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor
Compensation: $57.90 per hour + benefits
We are looking for an onsite Red Seal Certified Millwright Machinist for a Chemical Manufacturing Plant that is located in North Vancouver, British Columbia Canada. The Millwright-Machinist will support the preventive and corrective maintenance program for the company's Chlor-Alkali production plant in North Vancouver, BC. They will provide installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of plant equipment (including conveyors, pumps and compressors, power tools, fans and blowers, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and power transmission systems and mobile equipment). This position requires flexibility in meeting multiple job demands and the requirement to assist other trades-persons as and when needed.
• Must have a Interprovincial Standard Endorsement (Red Seal) for the Millwright Trade.
• Must have a Interprovincial Standard Endorsement (Red Seal) for the Machinist Trade.
• Hands-on experience working with Rotating and Stationary equipment is preferred
• Strong commitment to Safety and Environmental issues within a plant environment
• Excellent work ethic with a positive attitude a must
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain, install, inspect, replace or repair Plant Equipment
- Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
- Use the Work Order system to track hours, parts and supplies, and equipment history
- Deal with suppliers and initiate purchases through the Company Purchasing system
- Assist other trades-persons as and when needed and supervise an apprentice
- Perform other maintenance related duties as and when needed
- Be willing and able to work overtime and be on call as required
- Maintain familiarity, and comply with all Company corporate and site Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) policies and procedures
- Immediately report all ES&H incidents (injuries, near misses, releases)
- Complete all required ES&H training in a timely fashion
- Follow all Company facility and corporate ES&H procedures and practices
- Attend and actively participate in facility ES&H meetings and forums that will drive employee involvement
- Provide feedback and suggestions for ES&H program improvement
- Participate in job safety analysis activities, housekeeping tours, in Safety programs and initiatives, such as Behaviour-Based Observations
The selection process will consist of a series of interviews followed by a medical (including drug/substance/chemical) test and a criminal background check.
