A Provincially Certified Red Seal Machinist position is an achieved role upon completing technical training and getting work experience in a Red Seal trade, graduating from an apprenticeship training program recognized by the Industry Training Authority in British Columbia Canada, and passing the inter-provincial standards Red Seal exam for that trade. The Machinist's role is primarily responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to cut or grind metal, plastic or other materials to make or modify parts or products with precise dimensions. Typical duties and responsibilities include inspecting machined parts and tooling in order to maintain quality control standards, working for machinery, equipment, motor vehicle, automotive parts, aircraft and other metal products manufacturing companies and for machine shops. An Aviation Machinist would be someone who has excellent mechanical aptitude, has strong attention to detail and able to communicate complicated technical ideas with precision and clarity. Most importantly, they would need to have good physical mobility, as well as be able to lift heavy objects and handle production pressures calmly. Machinist - Aircraft Maintenance, Delta BC
Department: Aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul
We are looking for a Red Seal Provincially Certified Machinist to join our Delta-based client in the aviation/aircraft engineering and maintenance industry. Reporting to the Team Leader, the role will be responsible for performing one or more of the following processes in the repair of engine rotables or aircraft components: machine grinding, machine milling, machine turning, hand polishing, CNC operation & programming, and general inspection.
The Aviation Machinist would be someone who has excellent mechanical aptitude, has ability to interpret drawings and documentation, has completed a recognized apprenticeship or have a minimum of 4 years equivalent experience relevant to the implementation of technical work on engines/modules. and most importantly, possesses a recognized provincial machinist trade qualification. The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal/teamwork, organizational, and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a provincial machinist trade qualification.
- Must have completed a recognized apprenticeship or have a minimum of 4 years equivalent experience relevant to the implementation of technical work on engines/modules.
- Must be able to interpret drawings and documentation.
- Must have knowledge of machine shop equipment.
Preferred Applications:
- Experience with machining and processes of repairing aircraft engine components.
- Experience with CNC milling and grinding machines.
Key Responsibilities
- Use machining processes to repair engine rotables or aircraft components.
- Follow direction of shop leadership.
- Comply with company policy and procedure manuals.
- Recommend additions or changes to work documents.
- Advise Leads of tool shortages.
- Ensure machines are cleaned and maintained.
- Make suggestions to Team Leaders for process improvements.
- Keep shop licenses current.
- Provide on-the-job training as needed.
Computer Training Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge with Microsoft Operation System Windows 10
- Intermediate/Advanced knowledge with MS Office 2010
- Experience with SAP functions/transactions and system (or similar ERP system)
The selection process will consist of an interview and skills assessment.
NOTE: MACHINISTS MAY BE EXPECTED TO FOLLOW STANDARD WORK SHIFT ROTATION. THOSE UNABLE TO DO SO WILL BE ELIMINATED FROM THE COMPETITION.
