Continental 12-hour Shifts - Guaranteed days off
Primary Purpose of Position:
To work within the Die Cast Department to efficiently and effectively set-up and operate equipment within a die cast cell to ensure a quality product is produced and delivered that consistently satisfies or exceeds our customer’s expectation.
Major Responsibilities of Position:
- Maintains a safe and clean workplace – The foundry goal is zero lost time accident and no housekeeping (audit) complaints.
- Quality Performance – The foundry goal is zero discrepancies at the user plants, process checklists will be utilized to monitor and track process stability
- Uptime improvements – The foundry goal is 90% equipment utilization.
- To maintain oxide levels that meet or exceed the standards specified by the customer.
- Scrap and material utilization – Dross and other melt losses are to be weekly, target < 7.0% melt loss.
- Employee relations – The foundry goal is to develop a team-based environment with cross-functional deployment wherever possible. Each member will be expected to back up all other positions as required.
- To maintain grade 1 scrap feeding into the Remelt furnaces.
Personal Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes):
- Participate in Continuous Improvement activities that will focus on waste elimination, improved health and safety, and ultimately cost reductions
- Improve educational standards by attending all planned training programs
- Ability to operate lift truck and overhead crane
- Must have regular and punctual attendance
- Must be able to follow directions of a supervisor
- Must be cooperative with other employees
- Must be quality conscious with an emphasis on operating to the Work Instruction
- Be familiar with hydraulics and pneumatics or willingness to learn.
- Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing, effectively
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to communicate, educate and coach new team members
- Fluent in English
Physical demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, twist, bend, grasp and lift – occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
- Visual requirements include ability to visually inspect work performed
- Talk and hear
- Must have the ability to tolerate the above requirements for a minimum of 12 hours daily
Work Environment
- Automotive manufacturing environment, Shift work
- Shop Environment: 75% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions; standard tools available
- Production Environment: 25% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions. Extreme temperatures during the summer and winter months can be expected
Educational and Certification Background
High school diploma or equivalent - Essential
Possess mechanical ability and be knowledgeable in the use of hand tools. - Essential
