Education: Graduate in therapeutic recreation or recreational therapy from an accredited college or university. • Certification: Current certification as a Recreational Therapist from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
Experience: One year of experience as a Recreational Therapist after graduation.
Develop treatment plans designed to restore, remediate and rehabilitate a person’s level of functioning and independence in life activities, to promote health and wellness as well as reduce or eliminate activity limitations and restrictions to participate in life situations caused by an illness or disabling condition.
Develop and implement individual recreation programs based on assessment results.
Teach, coach, and support as required.
Work with multidisciplinary treatment teams to evaluate and review the care provided to patients.
Provide individual consultation to staff as requested.
Develop presentations to staff on recreational opportunities.
