Real Estate - Legal Assistant
Location: Ottawa, ON
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
Salary Range: $50,000 – $65,000
About the Opportunity
Our client, a professional services organization, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant / Law Clerk to support a busy practice. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively manage multiple priorities while supporting legal and administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and edit correspondence with a focus on accuracy and quality assurance
- Prepare standard and precedent-based legal documents
- Conduct title sub-searches and assist with preliminary title review
- Manage workflow and support lawyers in prioritizing tasks and tracking outstanding items
- Coordinate internal and external communications, including email, phone, and mail
- Organize and maintain client files, including file closing and storage
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, conference calls, and maintain calendars/agendas
- Provide general administrative and project support as required
Qualifications
- Diploma in Office Administration – Legal, Law Clerk program, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk role
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge of legal software such as Unity and Teraview
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience drafting and editing professional correspondence
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
- Experience in areas such as development law or commercial real estate is considered an asset
