Radiation Therapy Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Radiation Therapy Specialist to join our medical team in providing precision radiation treatment and compassionate care to patients with neoplastic diseases. As a key player in our Radiation Oncology department, you will operate sophisticated radiation equipment under the guidance of a Radiation Oncologist. Your role will be instrumental in executing therapeutic procedures, ensuring the safety and comfort of the patients, and maintaining the equipment for optimal performance.

Salary: $70,000.00 - $93,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely and accurately operate linear accelerators and CT simulators for radiation treatments according to prescribed medical specifications.
  • Conduct daily quality assurance checks on radiation equipment to ensure functionality and safety standards are met.
  • Engage in pre-treatment planning, including simulations and the fabrication of customized treatment devices for patients.
  • Utilize electronic medical records systems to document treatment details, schedule patient simulations and treatments, and coordinate patient care effectively.
  • Facilitate a supportive and educational environment for patients, alleviating concerns and explaining the treatment procedures thoroughly.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as required, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to handle urgent radiology needs.
  • Maintain a professional and calm demeanor in high-stress situations, resolving issues with patience and efficiency.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a radiation therapy setting.
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Radiation Therapist in the state of New Mexico.
  • Current CPR certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced certification in radiation therapy or related field.
  • Experience with emerging radiation treatment technologies and techniques.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient and staff interactions.
  • High level of proficiency in patient care and empathy.
  • Technical skills to operate and troubleshoot radiation therapeutic equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team.
