Radiation Therapist

Focus:

  • Administer radiation therapy treatments to patients according to the prescribed plan, ensuring precision and adherence to safety standards.
  • Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, while following applicable standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Monitor patient comfort, safety, and response to treatment throughout each session, providing clear instructions and emotional support.
  • Maintain accurate treatment records, including dose calculations, patient positioning, and treatment outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the radiation oncology team, including physicians, medical physicists, and nurses, to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Stay current with advancements in radiation therapy techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to radiation therapy.

Skill Set:

  • Completion of a formal training program in Radiation Therapy from an accredited institution is required.
  • Must hold American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiation Therapy and possess a state radiation therapy license where applicable.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a clinical setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of radiation therapy techniques, safety standards, and treatment planning.
  • A commitment to patient-centered care, ensuring a compassionate approach during all interactions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
