RIA Tax Director, with a fast-growing private wealth and investment firm, seeking to strengthen and expand their tax team; and with flexible office arrangements in both Akron and Cleveland. Relatively young management group of RIA advisors, all in their 40s, seek an experienced tax accountant leader, at least ten years and preferably a CPA, who can commit to a full-time hybrid role of no more than 55 hours per week. The compensation quite competitive, and the opportunity for partnership there if desired.

Key Skills and Competencies:

Oversee client-focused tax planning, compliance, and advisory services.

Help lead and develop the tax team. This role is well suited for a senior tax professional who wants to remain close to clients and technical work while taking on broader responsibility for people, service quality, and the continued development of the tax practice.

Serve as a senior point of contact for clients on tax-related matters.

Develop proactive tax planning strategies to help clients manage tax liabilities and support broader financial objectives.

Collaborate with financial planning and investment management professionals to deliver coordinated client solutions.
Duties

Maintain high standards for technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and client service.

Supervise, mentor, and develop tax managers and staff while providing technical guidance and performance feedback.

Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate relevant implications to clients and internal team members.

Support the continued growth and development of the tax practice.

Minimal business development; this is a position to build the tax research and tax compliance expertise
What You Need
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
-
10+ years in a CPA firm, financial services firm, or comparable tax environment.

Supervisory or managerial leadership experience
-
Strong technical knowledge of individual, partnership, S corporation, trust, gift, federal, state, and local taxation.

Demonstrated experience managing tax engagements and client relationships.

Experience leading, supervising, or developing tax professionals.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong professional judgment, organization, and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a client-service environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Active CPA license.

Experience serving privately held businesses and their owners.

Experience with tax planning and consulting in addition to tax compliance.

Experience working with financial planning, wealth management, or investment management professionals.

Experience contributing to the growth or development of a tax practice.

Experience with Thomson Reuters UltraTax CS and Practice CS.
