General Description:
Working closely with the President, the Director of Quality oversees all aspects of the quality programs to drive a total quality culture at IFS. This person will be responsible for documenting and training of all personnel in the methods required to create a structured and well documented, customer driven, quality program. The program will be an ISO/QS metrics-based system, relying on the data and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities:
 Part of the IFS management staff. Required to work well with fellow managers, driving the approved strategic goals of the company.
 Participates with the creation of the strategic plan and the associated budgets.
 Maintains data on the performance of the company’s products, deliveries, customer interface and feedback to drive continued improvements at IFS.
 Able to train production associates, supervisors, and managers in the methods required to insure repeatable product quality and performance to customer.
 Interacts with the sales team to gain customer feedback that would lead to improvements in products, processes and procedures.
 Leads the development of an ISO/QS driven quality system with formatted work instructions, and data collection with continuous improvement feedback loops.
 Able to interact with all levels of the IFS organization (internal customers) and with the various levels of the external customer base (distributors, installers, end users).
 Technically strong, using analytical tools to aid areas of the company in finding root cause driven solutions to challenges.
 Successfully manages the quality technicians to ensure that they are not only determining the acceptability of the production outputs, but that they are helping to drive improvements that will lead to better processes and products that have a reduced risk of deviation.
 Assists manufacturing with capability studies and analytical analysis of production
output to help set the acceptable levels of product performance.
 Assists design engineering with the development of tooling designs, manufacturing specifications and process methods that will help insure repeatably manufactured, high quality product that meets the desired technical standards.
Job Requirements:
 A bachelor’s degree is required with advanced studies in business desired.
 Ten or more years of quality management experience in an ISO/QS driven manufacturing environment is required.
 A green belt and/or other quality training certifications desired.
 Knowledge of manual and automated manufacturing methods is required. Experience with FRP manufacturing is preferred.
 Excellent communicator and leader.
 Technically sound and able to perform high level, root cause driven problem solving and solutions that are based on gathered data.
 Excellent knowledge of computers and spreadsheet-based software.
 Some travel may be required.
 Able to manipulate items up to 20lbs. per NIOSH standards
