Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer will provide engineering services to develop and enhance quality control systems and procedures to create high quality castings to fulfill customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and recommend product quality objectives and goals.
  • Work with marketing, manufacturing, and customers to establish specific quality requirements on the basis of customer needs and expectations.
  • Recommend and initiate improvements that will increase product uniformity and stability, improve quality, and promote customer satisfaction.
  • Recommend improvements to simplify manufacturing process controls and appraisal systems, thereby reducing costs without compromising quality or customer satisfaction.
  • Determine whether manufacturing processes and equipment have sufficient capability to meet quality requirements through appropriate statistical techniques.
  • Plan and implement the quality information feedback system.
  • Develop and maintain quality certification and control plans for product as specified by customers.
  • Participate in customer surveys, assessments, tours, and presentations of quality related subjects.
  • Write and publish quality procedures and systems manuals in conjunction with manufacturing and other support departments.
  • Determine the effectiveness and adequacy of quality system and revise as necessary to meet quality standards.
  • Establish key production process characteristics and provide assistance in developing procedures to control these factors through techniques like Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), etc.
  • Plan and assist in the coordination of training and orientation courses in quality related topics.
  • Act as an instructor and facilitator for employee involvement groups specific to process and quality improvements.
  • Analyze customer concerns and returned material to identify root causes.
  • Recommend appropriate short and long-term corrective action.
  • Communicate action plan and results to customers and appropriate personnel.
  • Utilize delay time constructively by doing housekeeping or other area improvement activities.
  • Participate in area continuous improvement efforts including Employee Involvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline preferred
  • 3-5 years’ of Quality Engineering experience within a manufacturing plant
