About the Opportunity
We’re supporting a search for a Quality Engineer with an automotive injection molding operation in Michigan. This role will own customer quality activity for assigned accounts while helping improve overall plant quality performance. The Quality Engineer will manage customer concerns, corrective actions, APQP/PPAP requirements, scorecards, and daily communication with both customers and internal plant teams.

What You’ll Do
You’ll serve as a primary quality contact for assigned automotive customers and work closely with production and technical teams to prevent defects, resolve issues, and maintain strong customer quality performance.

Key areas of focus include:

• Manage customer complaints, concerns, scorecards, containment, corrective actions, and response timing
• Lead or support APQP activities
• Prepare complete and timely PPAP submissions
• Maintain compliance with IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and internal procedures
• Ensure adherence to PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, inspection standards, and work instructions
• Monitor SPC and quality data to identify trends and prevent customer issues
• Analyze nonconforming material and lead root-cause and corrective/preventive action activity
• Lead structured problem-solving using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, and root-cause analysis
• Support scrap reduction, defect prevention, rework reduction, and continuous improvement
• Track and report PPM, scrap, rework, customer complaints, and other quality KPIs
• Support internal, customer, supplier, and third-party audits
• Support corrective-action responses following audits
• Work closely with production supervisors, team leads, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering, suppliers, and customer contacts
• Spend meaningful time on the production floor supporting quality performance and communication

Who You Are
You are an automotive Quality Engineer with hands-on knowledge of plastic injection molding and direct experience owning customer quality requirements.

You are comfortable managing customer complaints, containment, corrective actions, scorecards, and quality documentation while working closely with plant teams to solve problems and prevent repeat issues.

Preferred Experience & Attributes
• Automotive Quality Engineering experience required
• 2–5+ years of automotive manufacturing quality experience targeted
• Plastic injection molding knowledge required
• Hands-on experience with APQP and PPAP
• Experience with PFMEAs and Control Plans
• SPC and capability study experience
• Experience with QSB and LPAs
• Customer-facing OEM or Tier 1 quality experience
• Experience managing complaints, containment, 8D responses, scorecards, and corrective actions
• Working knowledge of IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements
• Strong 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, and root-cause problem-solving skills
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, and computer skills
• GM, Honda, Ford, or comparable OEM/Tier 1 experience preferred
• CQE or similar certification preferred
• GD&T, engineering drawing, DOE, and statistical analysis knowledge preferred
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent five years of experience permitted by the current job description; final requirement to be confirmed

This role has direct ownership of customer quality performance and will help keep customer scorecards strong while reducing complaints, PPM, scrap, rework, and repeat defects. The Quality Engineer will also support APQP and PPAP activity for launches and changes while helping ensure plant teams consistently follow quality procedures and standards.
