Quality Control Manager
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for leading our quality control team, working as a key member of the plant management team and with other internal and external customers. The individual will be responsible for developing and implementing quality control strategies to ensure the consistent production of high-quality cement products, safely and at low costs. The individual will oversee all aspects of the quality control process, manage a team consisting of a supervisor and technicians, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develops, implements, and maintains a comprehensive quality management system to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee all aspects of the cement quality control production process, including testing procedures, data analysis, and reporting, to verify compliance with specifications.
- Manages entirety of quality team providing guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance and professional development.
- Drives continuous improvement activities to optimize quality control processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs while maintaining product quality standards.
- Stays informed about changes in industry regulations and standards and ensures that the plant remains in compliance with all applicable requirements.
- Conducts internal audits and inspections to assess compliance with quality control procedures and identify areas for improvement.
- Implement preventative measures and corrective actions as necessary to address non-conformities and ensure the continuous improvement of the quality management system.
- Responsible for completing area audits.
- Always maintains work area and equipment in a safe and clean condition.
- Responsible for abiding by and supporting all company and plant safety policies, rules and procedures as well as M.S.H.A regulations.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO test procedures and standards for cement.
- Knowledge of quarry/mining operation activity/processes
- Working knowledge of all analytical equipment (XRF, XRD, PGNA, LECO, Physical Test, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills utilizing spreadsheets, other computer programs and other tools to support continuous improvement manufacturing.
- Strong leadership and team building competencies.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry required.
- 10 years previous experience in cement plant operations, process, or lab is required.
- 5 years of supervisory experience in cement quality control required.
