Location: California (Lodi, San Joaquin County & Colton, San Bernardino County)
Travel: Required between both plant locations; frequency may vary based on operational demand (weekly to monthly).
(Re-)Location: Candidate's home base can be either in Southern or Northern California, as long as they are able to travel regularly between the two plant locations.

Their team takes pride in high standards for safety, quality, and performance—and they are looking for a Quality Control Manager who will lead and oversee all aspects of quality across two large-scale steel fabrication plants and uphold and enhance highest standards across all operational levels.
The Quality Control (QC) Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all steel fabrication and erection activities meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This leadership position oversees quality assurance processes across shop and field operations, ensuring conformance to project specifications, industry codes, and regulatory requirements. The QC Manager is instrumental in maintaining a company-wide culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Quality Control Manager to lead and oversee the execution of our client’s quality assurance program, ensuring compliance with industry codes, contractual obligations, and internal standards. This is a critical leadership role responsible for managing the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) across fabrication facilities and job sites.
The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of steel fabrication, AISC certification, and AWS/ICC inspection standards, as well as the ability to lead audits, resolve non-conformities, and train quality teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides the establishment and execution of a system audit of QA program consistent with the provision of the AISC certification program.
- Serves as the management representative and is responsible for the development and maintaining of the company’s Quality System, they will chair the management review meeting and oversee all corrective actions that are identified from the meeting.
- Conducts pre-award audits using company’s internal audit for all subcontractors performing welding unless in possession of contract required certification (LA City, AISC, etc.).
- Controls and distributes the plant quality assurance manual.
- Takes necessary action as directed by the President.
- Ensuring that current engineering and production documents and instructions are used.
- Close tolerance measuring and testing equipment requiring calibration, and specifies measurement and test equipment to have their identity maintained and controlled.
- Resolve all non-conformance that have been found within the company’s management system external audits, by quality assurance inspection, or independent owners testing inspection team.
- Monitors non-conformance reports and red tag logs for items that are repetitive or require significant cost to correct, supervise the initiation of corrective action, and monitors the results.
- Periodically review and audit the various quality control functions.
- Oversees retention of project quality records at the plants, defines quality records, and maintains corporate quality records.
- Supervises QA and QC personnel assigned to each specific site.
- Verifies that activities affecting quality are performed in accordance with the written procedures and meet the contract requirements.
- Reviews the project documents for non-standard requirements.
- Develops WPS’s and PQR’s for welding processes to meet contract documents.
- Provides training of welders and QC inspectors as required.
- Attends preconstruction, prefabrication meetings, and aids the project manager by reviewing the project structural drawings, and specifications.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of code requirements, fabrication quality; possesses AWS CWI, ICC bolting, and experience in the steel fabrication, design, and contract administration.
