Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Plant Manager of a leading privately held food and beverage manufacturer. The QA Manager is responsible for the overall plant quality and food safety policies and program direction to ensure products meet regulatory, customer and consumer quality expectations. Manages 6 direct reports (QA Lead, QA Tech, QA Micro Tech, QA Raw Material Tech). Ensures that existing food safety, quality programs and other third party certifications are maintained including SQF, HACCP, Organic, Kosher. Ensures compliance to regulatory requirements related to food safety and provides leadership in the continuous improvement of these programs. Ensures compliance to customer specific quality and food safety requirements. Meets with vendors, customers, quality representatives and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems as required. Maintains appropriate skills and technical training to act as the SQF practitioner and HACCP coordinator. Ensures satisfactory technical support is provided both to internal departments for quality and food safety issues. Provides hands on support to the production and other internal departments in troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives. Provides support, leadership and direction to the Quality department team members. Establishes and maintains annual Quality budgets. Remains current with new government rules, scientific procedures and chemical regulations. Coordinate training on HACCP & GMP’s for all employees.

Background Required:
  • Food and Beverage, Consumer Packaged Goods manufacturing, processing and packaging (5 years)
  • Quality Assurance role (3 years)
  • Development and Implementation of QA programs and procedures
  • Proven track record of successful regulatory compliance, audits and reports and SQF Code
  • FSMA, HACCP, FDA knowledge and requirements
  • Food GMP’s, safety standards and packaging practices essential to quality assurance
  • Statistical data analysis for complex problem solutions, precision measurement and process capability
  • Microsoft Office and computer skills
  • Travel <10%
  • Education: BS Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry or related degree
  • Residence: Yakima, WA (relocation assistance provided)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • High Speed food or Beverage Manufacturing
  • Quality Internal Auditor, HACCP, SQF, PCQI, safety certifications
  • HACCP Juice Certification
  • Continuous Improvement, lean manufacturing and/or six sigma
