JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Impulse, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Purchasing Manager in Pontiac MI. Our client is a Tier 1 Automotive Supplier specializing in high-quality components and systems for global OEMs. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing all procurement operations, supplier management, and strategic sourcing to ensure uninterrupted production and cost efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities of a Purchasing Manager include:

  • Developing and implementing sourcing strategies for key commodities and services

  • Managing supplier relationships, including selection, evaluation, and performance improvement

  • Leading contract negotiations to secure favorable pricing and supply terms

  • Coordinating with production, logistics, and planning teams to ensure on-time delivery

  • Monitoring and reporting procurement KPIs such as cost savings, supplier quality, and delivery performance

  • Conducting supplier audits to maintain compliance with industry and customer standards

  • Supporting product launches and engineering changes through cross-functional collaboration

  • Ensuring adherence to IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and customer-specific requirements

  • Driving continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives within the supply chain

Job Requirements of a Purchasing Manager:

  • Strong knowledge of automotive supply chain standards and best practices

  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office

  • Ability to analyze data, evaluate supplier risk, and make strategic procurement decisions

  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and project management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed

REQUIRED Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field

  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience in a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment

  • (Preferred) Professional certifications such as CPSM or CPIM
