Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Fleet for an asset-based waste management organization that provides hauling services within municipal, recycling, leachate and yard waste. In addition, the organization maintains wheels loaders, excavators and landfill tippers to support operations. With $ 110 million dollars in revenue, the company has 450 tractors, over 600 trailers and over 80 pieces of “yellow iron” operating within a 10-state region.
The Purchasing Manager plans and directs the activities of the Purchasing Department, including communication with centralized outsourced procurement organization, purchasing materials, products, equipment and services, inventory management and will involve working with other departments seeking to acquire these resources. Aggregate purchasing programs including fuel, tires, maintenance, OEM equipment and project work. Strong data skills to make recommendations to the executive team required. This position manages all functions of the department and assumes supervisory and managerial responsibility for all procurement and inventory activities processed through the company’s central purchasing system.

Background Required:
  • Operations, purchasing, logistics, or material management (5yrs)
  • Understanding of supply chain management, logistics and inventory management
  • Analyze technical proposals and contract data

  • Vendor management
  • Travel: 25% (Attend Expos, see some vendors)
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook. Database Management.
