Psychiatrist
Join our team as a civilian psychiatrist who plays an integral role in the mental health of our service members.
The 633d Medical Group Langley Air Force Base is an Ambulatory Surgical Center supporting a local patient population of up to 29,000 active-duty members and their families. The Mental Health Clinic provides a full range of services to active-duty patients including therapy, group therapy, medication management, alcohol and drug abuse prevention and treatment (ADAPT) and family advocacy services.
Position Overview
The contract Psychiatrist will examine, diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders, prescribe and evaluate the effectiveness of a wide range of therapeutic measures, and serve as a medical and psychiatric consultant to clinical psychologists and clinical social workers. Duties include:
- Prepare and review case histories and obtain and evaluate data through interview techniques.
- Direct mental health care and perform psychiatric assessment and care coordination.
- Participate in psychiatric consultation with other medical specialists within the medical treatment facility for treatment purposes.
- Recommend dispositions of psychiatric cases, process mental health clearances and sanity boards.
- Clinical oversight/support to mental health technicians requiring direct provider oversight of patients and clinical encounters.
- Engage in on-the-job clinical training for mental health technicians in day-to-day clinical care.
Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. and successful completion of postgraduate training.
- Must have a current, valid, unrestricted medical license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth of the U.S.
- Must be in good standing and under no clinical restrictions with the state licensure board in any state where a license is held or has been held within the last 10 years.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Psychiatrist within the last 3 years.
- Board Certified as a Psychiatrist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
- Must have a current individual Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
- Must have a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- This is a contract position working at a military facility. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Work Schedule
- Full-time clinic hours are 8-hour shifts between 7:30AM and 4:30PM, Monday through Friday.
- Will provide after-hours on-call consultation to the Emergency Department twice a year for a 7-day period.
