The Protestant Religious Education Coordinator (PREC) supports the planning, coordination, and administration of Protestant religious education and ministry programs for the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps in Hawaii. This role assists in delivering faith formation programs, supporting chapel operations, and coordinating activities that serve military personnel, families, and authorized participants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Protestant Religious Education Coordinator will:

• Coordinate and administer Protestant religious education programs under chaplain guidance
• Support planning and execution of Bible studies, youth ministry, Vacation Bible School (VBS), retreats, and seasonal programs
• Develop and maintain program calendars, schedules, attendance records, and ministry rosters
• Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers and ministry leaders
• Prepare classrooms, materials, and supplies for program activities
• Support curriculum distribution and educational resource management
• Coordinate logistics for events, including facilities, setup, and audiovisual needs
• Maintain program documentation and administrative records
• Communicate with chapel staff, volunteers, and participating families
• Ensure programs comply with chapel policies, military regulations, and safety requirements
• Provide professional and respectful customer service in a pluralistic environment

Education and/or Experience

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in religious education, theology, ministry, education, human services, or related field
OR equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum two (2) years of experience supporting Protestant ministry, religious education, or faith-based programs
• Strong administrative and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while coordinating with chaplains, staff, and volunteers

Preferred:
• Experience supporting military chapel or Department of Defense religious programs
• Experience in youth ministry or children’s religious education
• Experience working in multicultural or multi-faith environments
• Experience managing volunteers and coordinating events
• Familiarity with Army Chaplain Corps operations

Work Schedule

• Part-time position
• Schedule varies based on program needs
• Evening, weekend, and holiday support may be required

Work Environment

• Work performed in chapel facilities, classrooms, offices, and community settings
• Requires interaction with military personnel, families, clergy, and volunteers
• May require light lifting and movement of materials and supplies

Security & Requirements

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain access to U.S. military installations
• Must comply with all installation security and identification requirements
