The Property Senior Controller position is with a top-tier Fortune 100 company. This position pays between $165 - 185K + 15-20% target bonus. Position is remote work from home with a requirement to go into the office when needed, meetings, etc. The company offers an outstanding corporate culture with lots of room for career advancement and an exceptional work life balance. We are looking for a Controller for a company where you will work in an ambitious and growing environment. In this role, you will be responsible for reporting packages preparation and analytics for large and multi tenant property companies. You will prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages and other client reporting and may be responsible for property company level including coordination of client equity contributions and distributions. May supports new business initiatives.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Client reporting packages & Budgets:
Produces property company reporting packages (regular and ad-hoc). Is responsible for related analytics and data quality checks. Provides qualitative analysis and comments. Prepares periodic financial statements as per the reporting standards of the client and assists with audit and tax preparation and audit review. Performs budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities. Assist in preparing client presentations relating to property company financials. Completes in an accurate and timely manner.
Monitors Financial Performance:
Monitors, compiles, and analyzes financial data. Performs detailed review of monthly or regular property level reports, and may provide a forward-looking view to senior team members. Assists with reviewing periodic P&L calculations at the fund and investor levels. Actively supports activities leading to the improvement of the financial performance of the property company.
Treasury Function:
Operates the daily activities of the treasury, cash management, and accounting function on the property company level. Manages or directly procures reviews and signs-off on property level bank account reconciliations. May post journal entries and money-movement transactions. Supervises all property company transactions are properly posted to the banking system. Prepares and reconciles trial balances for assigned property companies. Assist in discussion with banks and financial institutions, assists with handling financing arrangements, and execution of loan agreements. Ensures (financial) covenant monitoring and calculations.
Performs or supports preparation and execution of periodic asset payment, cash, and corporate action reconciliations.
Risk Management:
Supports senior team members in the management of risk and compliance activities. Participates in and supports corporate governance matters on the level of the property company.
New Business Participation & Structuring:
May participate in new business proposals. May assist with structuring investments.
Contact with the Fund Teams:
Maybe a contact point for the fund (portfolio) teams. Feeds data for client presentations on financials. Supports preparation of fund (portfolio) capital call/distribution notices. Supports preparation of IRR and performance reporting models.
Cooperation with asset management:
Supports asset management function by providing financial advice (basic level) - financial impact of various commercial decisions. Participates in regular meetings with property managers on property company level.
Coordination:
Responsible for facilitation of information and data flow between accounting and other (property management) teams and asset management
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May act as supervisor for junior team members.
May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or portfolio specific training to others.
Job requirements:
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
- Solid economics, math, and analytical skills and ability to apply them in the pursuit of diverse situations. Knowledge of real estate terms, definitions, and real estate analytical methodology. Knowledge of Company financial systems as well as internal and external information sources. Intermediate knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite Products with a focus on Excel). Ability to work in multiple accounting and/or reporting software applications.
- Decisions made with a general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to clients, co-workers, and supervisor
