Position Overview:
The Property Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance by managing journal entries, reconciliations, and budget support for a property portfolio. This role requires analytical skills, GAAP knowledge, and the ability to partner with property managers and auditors to deliver timely, high-quality reporting.
Key Responsibilities:

Compile and analyze financial data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.

Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Review and reconcile budgets, revenues, expenses, payroll entries, and invoices.

Perform bank reconciliations, wire transfers, and ensure timely mortgage payments and distributions.

Support property acquisitions, dispositions, closings, and funding transactions.

Partner with internal and external auditors, providing documentation and explanations.

Communicate with property managers to support pre-close and close activities.

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure control.

Complete ad hoc reports and financial analyses as requested.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

3+ years of relevant accounting experience with strong GAAP knowledge.

Proficiency in accounting and property management systems (Yardi, OneSite, etc.).

Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and database management.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management abilities.

Self-directed, motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
