Project Manager- Civil Engineer

Location: Northern VA region or Springfield MO

Salary: Northern VA Region: Up to $175k. Springfield MO region up to $150k

Description

The civil team supports a broad portfolio of infrastructure and site-related work, including water/wastewater systems, transportation projects, stormwater management, and site/civil design. The ideal candidate brings a strong track record delivering similar projects and the leadership skills to manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality from kickoff through closeout.

This role leads projects end-to-end, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, contract/proposal development, engineering design, and construction-phase support.

Responsibilities

  • Direct overall project execution, including team coordination, deliverable quality, client communication, and financial performance
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners (engineering disciplines, architecture, landscape architecture, planning, and other technical stakeholders)
  • Own project outcomes: technical design oversight, scope control, schedule tracking, QA/QC, and profitability
  • Perform or review technical analyses that support civil planning and design decisions
  • Develop and review engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications for civil projects
  • Support proposal development by defining scope clearly and helping negotiate strong contract terms
  • Identify risks early and make timely decisions to keep projects aligned with schedule and deliverables
  • Assign tasks effectively, set clear expectations, and establish realistic deadlines while holding the team accountable
  • Promote Company’s values and ensure a high standard of service and responsiveness to clients
  • Drive repeat business through strong client partnership and consistent project delivery

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 7+ years of progressive civil engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and commonly used civil engineering tools/software
  • Demonstrated success leading projects with a strong technical foundation and sound engineering judgement
  • Skilled in civil design coordination and integration across disciplines
  • Proven ability to delegate both production and administrative tasks to focus on leadership and project oversight
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and practical problem-solving capability
  • History of delivering profitable projects with minimal oversight
  • Strong client-facing ability, with an emphasis on building long-term relationships and repeat work
