Project Manager - FILLED
Job Description
Project Manager, Marine Construction
“Do you enjoy working and living near water? This opportunity is ALL ABOUT THE WATER!!!”
Company Information
With over 100 years of service, my client is one of the most financially stable, well respected Marine Construction companies in the USA. Their footprint is all over the SF Bay, Delta and waterways of California.
With three integrated companies, they are a one stop turnkey organization which gives them a distinct advantage over their competitors.
The growing Marine Construction Division is strategically located smack in the middle of the majority of their work: such as bridges, wharfs and levees. This location houses their office, fabrication shop and equipment yard.
They are always doing interesting and cool projects such as seawalls in Alameda, building levees to protect Sacramento or responding to the Oroville dam spillway emergency – it is all about protecting CA.
They Value and Appreciate their Employees
A quote from an employee, “The executive team really cares. The owner came to the office the other day, out of the blue, and he brought lunch for 75 employees. Then he talked with us personally, and it’s not about work, it’s about “how is your new baby doing?” Where are you going on vacation this year?”.
They have the Project Manager Academy – an amazing professional development program led by FMI to help their employees reach their professional goals, excellent compensation, and benefits.
Safety is extremely important, and it shows in their numbers with a current mod rate of .71, almost unheard of in the construction industry. During Covid, they provide free testing to every employee every two weeks since July 2020.
Your Role with the Company
You are THE point person on your projects, with project engineers, superintendents, and field personnel reporting to you. Your team will build bridges over beautiful waterways, strengthen levees, build piers and other marine related projects.
Reports directly to the Marine Construction Division Manager who has been with the firm since graduating Cal Poly 14 years ago. His
leadership style is “the project is yours, I’m just here to help you and provide resources, it’s your baby, cradle to grave”.
Background Profile:
- Expertise in heavy civil construction and/or marine construction
- 5+ years’ experience with self-performing construction companies
- Exposure to managing teams and developing project engineers
- Engineering or Construction Management degree or related field
