Our client is one of the top 5 "Best Places to Work" in the state of Indiana, and one of the most successful developer/builders of multifamily properties in the entire country. Due to their exciting growth, they seek to hire a Preconstruction Project Engineer at their headquarters office in the Indianapolis area.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs plan quantity take offs and provides meticulously documentation.
  • Use quantity takeoffs and past cost data to develop initial budgets.
  • Inspects plan sheets to ensure client Standards are being achieved.
  • Communicates and coordinates with all design disciplines to increase plan accuracy.
  • Ensures plan coordination between all plan sheet layers (MEP, Site, Structural, Interiors, Architectural)
  • Lead quality control for plan sets.
  • Identifies prebid RFI’s and potential plan errors early in process to reduce RFI’s and plan revisions during construction phase.
  • Tracks plan sets, addendums, and reports and has full understanding of plan edits and evolutions during process.
  • Assists in bid process, subcontractor coordination, and other related preconstruction activities.
  • Perform all duties as defined in the “Preconstruction” section of the client Policies and Procedures.


  • Must be knowledgeable in construction plans and building systems.
  • Must have a degree from an accredited university with a focus in construction, engineering, or relevant field of study.
  • Experience in plan review and quality control.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Must be consistently detail oriented. We love OCD level of detail oriented.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Basic knowledge in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in performing take-offs in PlanSwift or Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to listen and understand intents and goals.
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
  • Professional judgment and discretion that comes from experience in working with customer services, internal teams, and 3rd party consultants.
  • Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies as it relates to your role.
